Important: This policy explains how OBI Games handles personal information for the Pillar of War website, game, multiplayer services, and related account features. It is written for clarity, but it does not replace legal advice.
Pillar of War is operated online by OBI Games. OBI Games does not publish a physical business address on this website. For privacy questions, access requests, correction requests, deletion requests, or complaints, contact the OBI Games Privacy Officer at [email protected]. The operator may appoint a privacy contact or representative for jurisdictions that require one.
We collect only information needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the service. Depending on how you use Pillar of War, this may include:
Depending on the jurisdiction and purpose, processing may be necessary to provide the service or perform a contract, comply with law, protect security and legitimate interests, or because you gave consent. Where consent is used, you may withdraw it as easily as you gave it; withdrawal does not undo processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Required service processing may still continue where it is necessary to provide an account or game feature.
Display names, founder names and descriptions, profile images, leaderboard entries, match results, ratings, and other information you choose to make visible may be shown to other players or visitors. Messages, reports, and custom factions are visible to their intended recipients or moderators as needed to operate the service. Do not submit information you do not want shared in those contexts.
We may disclose information to service providers that help us host, authenticate, process payments, deliver content, operate databases, provide communications, prevent abuse, or support the game. Current integrations may include Steam, Discord, Stripe, hosting/database providers, reverse-proxy or security providers, and infrastructure providers. They may process information in countries other than your own. We do not sell personal information.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect users or the service, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or transfer of the relevant business assets.
We use essential cookies and similar storage for authentication, security, preferences, language, PWA installation, offline caching, and basic service operation. We do not use advertising or cross-site behavioural-tracking cookies. The following first-party cookies are set only when the related feature is used:
| Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
pow_session | Maintains a signed-in account session. The cookie contains an opaque session identifier; account access is verified on our server. | 7 days, or until logout |
pow_oauth_state_* | Protects Google, Discord, and Steam sign-in or account-linking flows against forged requests. | Up to 5 minutes; cleared after a successful callback |
pow_pending_signup | Temporarily preserves a verified sign-in identity while account registration is completed. | Up to 20 minutes |
pow_device_game_auth | Lets a player approve a native game's temporary device-code sign-in. | Up to 10 minutes |
These cookies are marked Secure, HTTP-only, and SameSite=Lax. Browser storage may also retain non-sensitive preferences such as language, accessibility and performance settings, plus PWA/offline game assets. Clearing site data can remove those local settings or offline assets. Stripe, sign-in providers, or an embedded video service may apply their own storage when you choose to use those services. Optional analytics or marketing technologies will be disclosed and controlled separately before they are introduced where required by law.
We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes described here, including providing the service, maintaining rankings and records, resolving disputes, preventing abuse, meeting accounting or legal obligations, and preserving security logs. Retention periods differ by category. When information is no longer needed, we delete, anonymize, or securely restrict it. Some public leaderboard or match records may remain in aggregated or historical form after account closure where necessary for game integrity.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information and risk. No service can guarantee absolute security. If we determine that a security incident creates a legally reportable risk, we will follow applicable notification and record-keeping requirements and notify affected people where required.
Subject to applicable law and reasonable identity verification, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or information about the use and disclosure of your personal information. You may also ask us to restrict or object to certain processing, receive portable information where applicable, or withdraw optional consent. Contact the OBI Games Privacy Officer at [email protected]. You may have the right to complain to the privacy regulator in your country or province.
Pillar of War is not directed at children where the law requires parental authorization or a higher standard of protection. We do not knowingly collect more information from children than is reasonably necessary to provide the service. If you believe a child has provided personal information without the required authorization, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
Matchmaking, ratings, fraud-prevention systems, moderation tools, and performance analytics may use rules or automated processing. These systems are used to operate the game, protect fair play, and improve the service; they are not intended to make decisions about a person’s legal rights. Where applicable law provides additional rights regarding automated decisions, you may contact us for review.
We may update this policy when the service, law, or data practices change. We will update the date and version above and provide additional notice where required. The version in effect when information is collected will remain available where reasonably practical.
For privacy requests, include the account display name and the email address associated with the account, but do not send passwords, payment-card numbers, or authentication tokens. Contact [email protected] or use the official support Discord:
